“This is love, to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment.
First to let go of life finally to take a step without feet.”

Sparrow at night

“Like polish melting into gold my heart has melted into you, like a lotus ascending from water my life emerges from you, like a night bird watching the passing moon I lose myself gazing at you.”

Capture sparrow in thicket.PNG
A little bird, within a tangled wood,
Sang sweetly to the forest solitude;
From matin hour to vesper time it sang —
Until the leafy woodland spaces rang
With such a chorus of ecstatic glee
That all the world seemed pulsing harmony …

simple life …

sparrow bird nest

… to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter; to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird’s nest or a wildflower in spring – these are some of the rewards of the simple life.   ~John Burroughs

Perhaps the little bird was named; W. Wordsworth?

Lines Written in Early Spring

“I heard a thousand blended notes,
While in a grove I sate reclined,
In that sweet mood when pleasant thoughts
Bring sad thoughts to the mind.

To her fair works did Nature link
The human soul that through me ran;
And much it grieved my heart to think
What man has made of man.

Through primrose tufts, in that green bower,
The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;
And ’tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes.

The birds around me hopped and played,
Their thoughts I cannot measure:—
But the least motion which they made,
It seemed a thrill of pleasure.

The budding twigs spread out their fan,
To catch the breezy air;
And I must think, do all I can,
That there was pleasure there.

If this belief from heaven be sent,
If such be Nature’s holy plan,
Have I not reason to lament
What man has made of man?”

William Wordsworth  1778

I Heard A Bird One Day

Wind moves through
this hollow reed body
touches the five senses
and becomes a song.

Who is the Master
of this orchestra
and how does Emptiness
become love or a teacup?

I heard a bird one day
and became the
bird hearing.
Then waking from this spiritual dream
of Oneness
the world resolved itself
and nothing at
all happened.
Yet the Ancient One continues to
wink and smile.
